Located between Dugi Otok and Ugljan, with area of 17.6 sq. kilometers. It is surrounded with about ten small picturesque islands, and the settlements are Mali and Veli Iž. The island was already inhabited in prehistory and in the written sources it is mentioned since the 13th century. In the Middle Ages it was owned by the noblemen and citizens of Zadar. The inhabitants live of agriculture, wine-growing, fishing, and tourism. Iž is often the starting point for excursions to the national park Kornati.
Marina: TANKERKOMERC Iž VELI. It is a part of the marina in Zadar, with 50 places on the floating docks and 200 places on the dry docks. The workshops, services, toilets and exchange office are included in the marina. It is open through the whole year. |
