    Beaches: Vela Plaza is a natural pebble beach, combination of pebbles and sand, and it is 1800 m long! Because of it's nature bank, it's particularly suitable for children and non-swimmers. The beach has many facilities including water sport equipment. Since 1999, the European Blue Flag has waved on Baska's Great Beach. Pebble beach of Stara Baska is unseen wonder!  Most of the visitors come from Punat or Baska by foot or by car, or by boats. If coming by car, you have to park above the beach and go by foot ...Great and little bit wild, ideal for those who seek intacted nature without  loudy bars!

About island Krk:

The largest island on the Adriatic (410 sq. kilometers) with 16,402 inhabitants in 68 towns and villages. It is separated from the coast by a narrow channel and it is connected with the mainland by the Krk Bridge. On this island, beside Omišalj, is the airport of Rijeka. The northern coast is rocky and windy, while the western and south-western parts are green, with numerous coves and beaches.The highest hill is Obzora, 568 high, and there are also two small lakes on the island: the Omišalj Lake in the north and Ponikve, in the center. The developed economic branches are agriculture, cattle breeding, fishing and tourism. The hunting-grounds for the various games are in the northern where the forests are.

The island of Krk has been inhabited since Neolithic. In the Middle Ages it is under the rule of the Frankopan princes. It is the center of the Glagolitic writing culture. The island is famous of its folklore customs and costumes, traditional trades, the archaic čakavski dialect and songs.
The most popular tourist centers on the island are: Baška, Malinska, Njivice, Omišalj, Punat and Vrbnik. The cuisine of Krk is also famous (fish or meat dishes), as well as white wine from island (žlahtina from Vrbnik).

Places on the island Krk:

KRK
The small town, port and the center of the island, it is situated on the south-west coast, in the bay of Krk. In Roman times it was the municipium Curicum. The most important architectural monument is the cathedral that was built on the remains of the Roman baths. Present Romanesque cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed
Virgin with three naves, is from the 12th century while the belfry ori­gins from the 16th - 18th century. It has a rich treasury. The collec­tion of paintings of the Italian mas­ters, from the 16th and 17th centu­ry, is kept in the cathedral building. The Romanesque basilica of St. Kvirin origins is from the 10th and 11th century. Other preserved buildings are the tower of Kamplin from 1191, wall and bastions beside the sea from 1407, cylindrical tower and three town gates. Out of the town, there are the ruins of the Pre-Romanesque church of St. Lovro that used to be a part of the Benedictine abbey. The oldest Glagolitic monument, the inscription from the 11th century was found in that church.

MALINSKA
The harbour and the bathing resort on the north-western coast of the island, with beautiful beaches rich vegetation. The settlement developed in the 19th century, belfry from 1618, built by masters from Krk and Cres, is the only rem­nant of destroyed church of St. Apollinaire from the 12th century that stood on the old graveyard, south-west of Malinska.

PUNAT
The port on the southern part of the island, in the long bay of Puntarska draga with the small island of Košljun. It has developed Mediterranean agriculture (olives, vineyards, figs) and ship building. The old toš, the olive mill, from the 18th century, is now turned into the gallery. The Pre-Romanesque church of St. Donat from the Old Croatian period is beside the road that goes to Krk.

Marina: MARINA PUNAT is sit­uated in the end of the cove near shipyard. It has 800 places on the floating docks, 500 on the dry docks, and stone built waterfront with 11 quays. There is a parking lot on the coast, snack-bar and shops. Marina has cranes of 5 and 10 tones, slipway for ships up to 50 t, and other facilities. The repair service is both in the marina and in the nearby shipyard. There are possibilities for keeping and repairs throughout the year.
