Island Košljun
The small island in Puntarska draga, covered with rich Mediterranean vegetation. It has been inhabited since Roman times. Benedictine abbey was founded in the 12th century, and in 1447 it was taken over by Franciscans, who built a new friery with the clauster in the 16th century. Today, the island is owned by Franciscans and it is not allowed to swim there.

There are daily masses in church, especially for the Christian holidays. In the monastery museum you can see a rich collection of icons, paintings, national costumes, books, incunabula's, and rare examples of the Glagolitic manuscripts. The concerts of clas­sic music are being regularly held in the atrium of the friery, in sum­mer. The transport to the island is possible only by boats from Punat.

BAŠKA
The picturesque town and harbor on the south-east part of the island, at the end of Baščanska draga. It is exposed to both jugo and bura (from the Senj Channel). Besides working in vineyards and vegetable gardens, the people work in tourism and fishing. Baška has about 2 kilometers long gravel beach and that is one of the most famous swimming beaches.
In the parish church of St. Trinity, with three naves, from 1722, there are paintings »The Last Supper« by Jacopo Palma jr., "The Madonna With Saints*"by M. Marziale and »The Coronation of St. Mary« by F. Jurčić from 1724.
A kilometer from Baška, in Jurandvor, there is the early Roma­nesque Benedictine church of St. Lucija, built around 1000. The famous Baščanska ploca, one of the oldest Croatian linguistic and law monu­ments, with the text in the Glagolitic script, carved in a rock tablet.

OMIŠALJ
The town and port on the west­ern coast of the island, on the 82 meters high hill, on the coast of the wall sheltered bay of Omišalj. The new part of the town was built along the coast, in rich vegetation. This small town preserved medieval urbane layout: the large central square with the parish church that already existed in 1213, the Romanesque basilica with three naves and some later additions. There are also valuable medieval monuments: the church of St. Antun, the church of St. Ivan from 1442, the ruins the prince's palace from the 14th - 15th century, the Gothic Panćirov house.

NJIVICE
The place on the western coast of the island well connected with the other towns. It has a few picturesque coves (Beli kamik, Blatna and Sepen), suitable for swimming and fishing. The settlement was founded in the 15th century, and the remains of Roman architecture were found on the coast.

VRBNIK
The town and harbor on the north-eastern coast of the island. It lies on the 49 meters high limestone hill that steeply falls towards the sea. The inland is the fertile Vrbničko polje (vineyards, vegeta­bles). ln the small cove Zgribnica there is a swimming beach. The fer­ryboat that operates on the line between Šilo and Crikvenica is in the vicinity.
This place was inhabited since prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages, Vrbnik was a fortress of the Frankopan family, with a statute written in the Glagolitic script, from 1388. The remains of the medieval defense wall with towers are still visible. The parish church is from the 15th - 16th century. The library of Dinko Vitezić of Vrbnik, with about 15,000 books, has also the collection of the Glagolitic manuscripts, from the 14th and 15th century and a few incunabula.

GLAVOTOK
The most western promontory of the island and the closest point to the island of Cres. It is also the starting point of the ferryboat that rides on relation Valbiska (Krk) -Merag (Cres). In 1473, the prince Ivan Frankopan gave a piece of land to the Glagolitic Franciscans, who in 1507 built a Franciscan mona­stery and church with one nave at that place. There is a valuable col­lection of the Glagolitic manu­scripts and books, not far away from there, in the cove Čavlena, there is the Old Croatian church of St. Krševan.

KLIMNO
The small place with a harbor. It is located in the northern part of the island, on the eastern coast of the Soline bay in which is an oyster growing site.
Marina: MARINA KLIMNO has 70 places on the floating docks, crane of 5 tons, slipway, work­shops...
STARA BAŠKA
The place on the south-western coast of the island in the bay of the same name. The Karst relief and the aromatic Mediterranean plants are the bases of the intensive devel­opment of bee-keeping. It has nice, long gravel-beaches.
Camp: Maslinik.

ŠILO
The settlement and port on the eastern side of the island, right across Crikvenica. The people there work in agriculture, fishing and tourism. There is the ferryboat line Crikvenica - Šilo. You can get a ro­om or apartment in private accom­modation.
