Island Žirje

It is located in front of the Kor­nati archipelago. Žirje is the largest inhabited island in the Šibenik archipelago with the area of 16.2 kilometers. It consists mostly of limestone, with a few fertile Karst fields. The dominant vegetation is macchia that is used for pasture. The inhabitants have vineyards, olive-groves and orchards. They are also fishermen. The only larger set­tlement is Žirje, located at some distance from the sea and connect­ed with the cove Muna.
