Beaches on the island Solta:

The beach in Necujam is the largest on the whole island and the most beautiful with small pebbles. Ideal for family with children and older couples. The beach is cleaned every day and there are also showers, buffets, water slide, rent-a-boat, tennis...

About the island Solta:

The island in front of Split, with the area of 59 sq. kilometers, six settlements, and about 1,500 inha­bitants. It is separated from the mainland by Split Channel, and the ferryboat from Split comes in the harbor of Rogač. In inland is a Kar­st field covered with different agri­cultural cultures.

The largest coves are Rogač and Nečujam. The Maslenica cove is good anchorage for smaller ships. The bigger settle­ments are: Grohote, Gornje Selo, Srednje Selo, and Donje Selo in the inland. The island has been men­tioned for the first time by the his­torian Pseudoskylak in the 4th cen­tury B.C., under the name Olyntha. The Romans called it Solenta, and in the Statute of Split from the 14th century, it has been men­tioned under the name of Šolta.

Places on the island Solta:

NEČUJAM
It lies on the north-western coast of the island in the wide bay of the same name. In the middle Ages it was famous of salt-pans. There is also the memorial collec­tion dedicated to Marko Marulić, the poet who lived there. Hotel: the tourist settlement Nečujam.

STOMORSKA
It is the village in the cove of the same name on the north-western coast of the island, with gravel and sand beach. It developed mostly at the beginning of the 18th century.

GROHOTE
It is the main settlement on the island, at some distance from the sea. The finds from the Bronze Age were discovered north from the vil­lage, on the site Brda. There are traces of the Roman buildings and mosaics in the village. Near the parish church you can see the basis of the Early Christian basilica of St. Stjepan from the 6th-7th century.

ROGAČ
It lies in the cove of the same name, on the northern coast of the island. In fact, it is the harbor of the biggest settlement, Grohote. The coast is very indented with numerous small gravel beaches. The coastal area with the small islands (Stipanska, Radula, Balkun, Polebrnjak, Grmej, Kamičić) is suitable for the underwater and sport fishing.
